STEM: Engineering in the Infant Room

Junior and Senior Infants were challenged by Ms. Costelloe to design and make a 3D tower for teddy to climb up. They had a variety of materials including playdoh, matchsticks, spagetti and cocktail sticks. The tower had to be freestanding. The children came up with lots of different designs for their towers.

Another day, they were challenged to design a playground for themselves. The children were given strips of paper and encouraged to find interesting ways to bend, twist, manipulate and construct them into a playground design. The result were beautiful and colourful 3D Sculptures which we displayed on our classroom wall. The children really enjoyed this STEM and Art activity.
